The mysterious Huautla strain, named after the Mexican village, holds the spirit of ancient civilizations and shamanic practices. Its mild effects and ease of cultivation make it a perfect choice for those new to both growing and learning about the magical properties of psilocybin mushrooms.

Origin

Mushrooms of this strain were first discovered in 1955 by American ethnomycologist Robert Gordon Wasson and his wife Valentina during their famous expedition to Mexico. In the village of Huautla de Jiménez, Wasson participated in a "la velada", a healing mushroom ceremony led by Maria Sabina, a Mazatec shamaness. Impressed and inspired by his immersion in Mexican culture, Wasson returned to the United States with many specimens of psilocybin mushrooms, including the progenitors of the Huautla strain. This was when Westerners first discovered the miraculous power of the "sacred children", which drew throngs of pilgrims thirsting for enlightenment to the hitherto unknown village. Unfortunately, this popularity brought tragedy to Maria's life. In the years that followed, she was persecuted by Mexican authorities and members of her community until she died in abject poverty in 1985, having passed on her knowledge of the nature of magic mushrooms to her loyal followers.

Appearance

The Huautla mushrooms have an attractive appearance, even though they are not particularly large. With a maximum stem height of up to 15 cm, the cap is rarely 12 cm in diameter, but usually ranges from 20-75 mm. When young, the caps are spherical or conical, becoming flatter as they mature, often with wavy edges that curve upward. The color of the caps ranges from golden caramel to amber or creamy tones, occasionally with a dark center. The characteristic feature of the strain is a cluster of fluffy flakes of mycelium at the base of the fleshy stem.

Growing Peculiarities and Yields

The variety is characterized by its unpretentiousness to the substrate, intensity of colonization, as well as resistance to external contaminants. However, this does not negate the need to strictly maintain sterile conditions of workspace and tools at all stages of development. The use of manure is not mandatory for Huautla cultivation, but supplementing the substrate base with this nutrient has traditionally been used by experienced mycologists to enhance the psychedelic potential of the magic mushrooms. Novice ethnobotanists use grains: wheat, raw oats, rye, and canary seed. The optimal microclimate setting for the incubator is 26-30 °C and 40-50% relative humidity. Under optimal conditions, it takes 10-18 days from inoculation to complete colonization of the block.

Maintain a temperature of 22-26 °C and a humidity of at least 90% in the fruiting chamber. A constant supply of fresh air will shape the Huautla fruiting bodies and reduce the risk of abortion.

With proper care and attention, Huautla will reward you with a solid yield of up to 300 g of fresh mushrooms per 1 liter of substrate for the first flush and 150-200 g for the following two flushes. The spawn yields up to 5 times.

Effects and Dosages

Despite its moderate psilocybin content, Huautla will provide a life-changing experience. It is truly a shamanic strain that requires a deep respect and careful approach, and can become a wise mentor to the seeker of truth. Do not overlook preparing for the trip by cleansing your body and mind with a vegetarian diet and spiritual practices 2-3 days before the planned session. Set your mind and mood for the best, but be prepared for whatever comes your way. Diving into your subconscious may be too exhilarating and even terrifying, but it will surely prove to be a valuable lesson.

Inexperienced myconauts should not consume more than 1-2 g at once. A classic psychedelic dosage is 2-5 g of dried mushrooms. A dose of more than 5 g will plunge the user into a kind of trance, full of mystical experiences beyond the limits of reality. Such an intense experience requires extensive preparation and the presence of a sitter.

The running length of the effect is 6-8 hours, peaking in about 3-4 hours after ingestion. The final phase of the session will be marked by a feeling of absolute spiritual renewal and harmony with the surrounding world.
