Since its emergence at the turn of the millennium to the present day, the B+ strain of psilocybin mushrooms has been one of the most popular and sought-after varieties of Сubensis, noted for its unparalleled resilience, mitigating minor missteps made by inexperienced mycologists and fluctuations in temperature patterns. The B+ provides a mild effect with a moderate intensity, which will be appreciated by novice travelers who would like to take a stroll along the shores of Infinity first before diving headfirst into it.

Origin

Legend says that this strain owes its origin to the cultivator nicknamed Mr. G, well-known to the regulars of the Shroomery mycological community in the late 90s. He claimed to have obtained B+ spores by crossing Psilocybe cubensis and Psilocybe azurescens. However, this version was later disproved by the fact that it was impossible to cross two different species of mushrooms. Nevertheless, this has not stopped B+ from reaching a huge audience of fans who appreciate the strain's versatility in cultivation, decent yields, and balanced effects with a vibrant visual component.

Appearance

B+ stands out for its fairly large size and high spore productivity. The cap of a young specimen has a reddish-brown color, which later changes to a light golden or yellowish hue, often with a dark center and whitish edges. The shape is initially spherical and, as it matures, takes on an umbrella-like appearance. The diameter of the cap ranges 2-8 (!) cm, and the length of the stem of individual fruiting bodies may reach 15-20 cm.

In the early stages of development, the underside of the cap is covered by a veil, which later breaks to expose dark gray spore plates (gills), sometimes with a purplish tinge.

Growing Peculiarities and Yields

B+ is a top performer in terms of tolerance to growing conditions and can be successfully cultivated in almost any nutrient-rich substrate. For beginners, we recommend using grain cultures such as millet, unprocessed oats, and rye. Despite the strain's resistance to pathogenic bacteria, sterile processing conditions should be maintained at all times.

At 26-30 °C and 40-50% humidity during the colonization stage, the substrate accretes with mycelium within 8-15 days, but a sudden drop in temperature may slow down this process.

During the fruiting stage, the temperature in the fruiting chamber should be kept between 22-26 °C and the humidity should not be less than 95%. This will allow the mycelium to produce firm and uniform fruiting bodies in abundance.

Under optimal conditions, expect up to 300 g of fresh mushrooms from 1L of substrate in the first flush. The following two flushes will yield approximately 100-150 g each. Cumulatively, the Psilocybe cubensis B+ mycelium can fruit up to 5 times, but the final flushes are not particularly generous, providing the patient mycologist with up to 50-80 g of raw product.

Effect and Dosages

The B+ strain is characterized by mellow and smooth effects, perfect for beginners and people seeking creative inspiration without deep psychedelic experiences. However, despite its relatively mild character, this strain of psilocybin mushrooms can cause side effects if consumed excessively or in an unfitting atmosphere. Remember that dosages are individual for each person. For a first-time experience, consider taking 1 g so that you can remain in a controlled state and consciously monitor your reaction. Increase the dosage by 0.5 g with each subsequent session to determine your optimal amount of magic shrooms. For advanced users, the optimal dosage ranges from 2-5 g, depending on the desired depth of effect.

FAQ

How to store spore prints?

In an airtight container or zip-lock bag in a dark place at a temperature of 3-5 °C.

Is this strain suitable for novice mycologists?

B+ is resistant to temperature fluctuations and minor errors in maintaining sterile conditions, making it one of the most common starter strains.

Do psilocybin mushrooms require light?

No special equipment is required for full development of the fruiting bodies. However, to ensure that the mushrooms look attractive and stretch towards the light, it is sufficient to hang an LED light above the fruiting chamber or provide diffused daylight in your grow room.
