Over half a century ago, in the sun-drenched landscapes of California, the first seed of the future star of the cannabis industry in North America and beyond took root. The visionary creators behind this botanical marvel were the Haze brothers, who lent their name to this creation.

It all began with the brothers' friendship with renowned breeder Sam Skunkman and the selection of a hybrid of two unknown sativa landraces from Mexico and Colombia. After a year, the best female specimens selected from this hybrid were crossed with a landrace from southern India. Finally, the female offspring of the resulting hybrid was again crossed with a male landrace from Thailand. Haze is a 100% sativa hybrid derived from landraces from Mexico, Colombia, India, and Thailand. Initially, Haze lacked stability and produced a variety of phenotypes. The most famous became the legendary Purple Haze, a phenotype with the dominance of Colombian genetics. Purple Haze proved to be the most potent and attractive Haze strain on the market, but also the most expensive one. In 1976, Sam Skunkman managed to bring some seeds from the Haze brothers to the Netherlands, including the photoperiod Original Haze. In the early 1980s, Sam crossed the Atlantic and settled permanently in the Netherlands, where he sold his seeds under the Cultivator's Choice brand.
